Renovations to The Students Union Building, U.W.I., Mona, Jamaica: 2002

The program required that the University's existing student complex (approx. 500sq.m) be significantly upgraded and a number of additional facilities be provided for the general student body and the Guild of students. Upon immediate completion, the building was used as the main hub for athletes participating in the I.A.A.F. World Junior Athletics Championships - Kingston 2002.

The upgraded facilities included the open area for performances, badminton courts, nightclub, gymnasium, multipurpose room, camera club, and administrative offices. New facilities included meeting rooms for clubs and societies, a rehearsal area for the University’s steel band orchestra, space for commercial operations and a studio apartment for the Guild President.

Other interventions such as the provision of a new entry, the rationalization of the general pedestrian movement throughout the complex and the creation of additional gathering spaces for the users, were also made.
